My name is Heather Peterson, and I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to my practice and share my treatment philosophy.
As a Licensed Addictions Counselor, my approach to treatment is grounded in the cognitive-behavioral tradition, and I use current evidence-based treatments like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and the Transtheoretical Model of Behavior Change (TTM). Details about these methods may be found on my website.
Essentially, I am committed to working with you to create meaningful transformation. I will help you to increase your self-awareness and take steps to reshape your relationship with painful thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in a way that reduces their impact and influence over your life.
I realize you may have mixed emotions about substance use counseling, and you may feel reluctant about attending. That’s normal and understandable. If you are considering working with an addictions counselor, feel free to contact me for a 30 minute Free Consultation. We can chat over the phone or make arrangements to discuss your needs in person and determine if I would be a good fit.
